Justice + Equality: Plexi
This piece is a part of the Signs of the Times collection. This piece serves as a visual intersection of a nation’s foundational promises and its chaotic reality. Created in 2017, I aimed to capture the disorienting political climate of the first (and now second) Trump administration, a time when American identity feels both deeply fractured and intensely scrutinized. At the heart of the work is a directional signpost, but rather than pointing to physical locations, it points toward the moral and civic concepts that define a democracy. The background is a grit-soaked, digital reimagining of the American flag, layered with graffiti-style textures and vibrant, clashing colors. By combining photography with digital work, I wanted to mirror the "noise" of the era: the constant cycle of protest, policy shifts, and public discourse. The weathered appearance of the flag suggests a history that is being rewritten in real-time, highlighting the tension between the "United" states and the visible fractures within the social fabric.
