View From My Chaise Lounge

The title is literal. These images started with me looking straight up from a chaise lounge in St. Maarten, capturing the graphic mess of palm fronds overhead. I’ve always been fascinated by the architecture of these trees, the way the leaves overlap and cut into the sky.

The Process

These aren't meant to be traditional landscapes. I use the original photography as a blueprint, employing digital tools to reconstruct the image. By pushing the colors into high-saturation color ways or bold black and whites, I'm moving away from the expected tropical greens and toward something more intentional and constructed.

It’s about that specific perspective you only get when you’re forced to sit still and just look up.
