Ode to Robert Indiana: LOVE 2021 x Beach Roses
As a continuation of my Ode to Robert Indiana Series, these mixed media pieces were done during the spring of 2021. Flowers bursting with color and post pandemic optimism led me to work with new colors, new vibrancy, and a new attitude.
Robert Indiana was an American artist associated with the pop art movement. His "LOVE" print, first created for the Museum of Modern Art's Christmas card in 1965, was the basis for his 1970 Love sculpture and the widely distributed 1973 United States Postal Service "LOVE" stamp. His recent passing inspired me to create a work honoring his legacy. This piece is a combination of digitally manipulated photography and Digital Art.
