Surfacing No. 3

This series explores the joyful intersection of coastal energy and the thrill of flight. Inspired by the literal "lift-off" of rocket launches, these pieces imagine surfboards catching an invisible draft and soaring from the water’s edge.

The centerpiece of each work is a surfboard adorned with my vibrant floral photomontages, bringing a playful, high-energy vibe to the scene. While the tranquil waters of the Long Island Sound are a daily staple, the backdrop for this series required more drama. To capture the churning, powerful whitewater, I headed out during a wild Atlantic hurricane to photograph the crashing waves that provide the foundation for these compositions.

It’s a celebration of momentum—where the botanical meets the aerodynamic.
